Meet the Best of the Best in Ohio: Morgan Henning

Now this all-star youth is no stranger to The Barrel Racing Blog’s readers. She’s won the Congress, and she and her sister have garnered plenty of attention right here on this very page. Miss Morgan Henning has been a dominating force in barrel racing in Ohio and nationally, and she’s here today to talk about her awesome mount, Corona. Plus, watch a video of Morgan and Corona rockin’ and rollin’ at Henderson’s Arena in Jackson, Ohio, this past Labor Day weekend.

Tell us about the horse you’ll be running in The Best of the Best in Ohio Barrel Race. (Name, bloodlines, style, age, owner, any other fun details.)

Name: Famous Corona “Corona”
Bloodlines: Southern Cartel x Wire Ta Wire
Style: Free Runner
Age: 5
Owner: Joel Henning (My dad)
She is a challenge in the chute. Let’s just say she likes to bounce of the walls!

What is the biggest race this horse has won?

The biggest thing I have ever one on Corona is an open class but knocked barrels have kept me from bigger wins.

What is your biggest win as a barrel racer?

The biggest thing I have ever won is the 2008 All American Quarter Horse Congress Novice Youth Barrels 13 & Under.

Have you ever run at the WB Ranch before? (If so, what did you think of the facility and the ground, and how did your horses work there?)

Yes I have run at the W.B. Ranch and I absolutely love it! I wish it wasn’t 4 hours away because I would want to go to it more often!! Each time I have been there the ground has been great. My horses worked really well there.

Tell us one little-known fact about you or your horse.

Corona likes to hold hooves with horses especially Peyton’s (Justin‘s younger sister’s) horse Tucker. She will take her hoof and put it right on top of his and she will stay like that for a long time. She also has a tattoo on her lip.

This race is all about charity – What’s the biggest cause you believe in and why?

The biggest cause I believe in is Leukemia because my Paw (grandpa) died from it.

  1. I love that the horse “holds” paws. That is so unusual. Your horse loves to run and is happy. Great to watch. Looking forward to watching you two at the end of the month!
